About Me
Hi, my name’s Sharell and I’m the author of Henna for the Broken Hearted.
I’m an ex-accountant from Australia who never expected to become a writer, but life has an interesting and unlikely way of working out sometimes. When I was 30 years old and just starting to feel like I was getting on top of life, life turned the tables on me and threw me headfirst into a huge crisis. My marriage tragically ended and so did all my hopes and dreams for the future. All that I was left with was a career that I was never passionate about.
There’s a saying, we can become bitter or we can become better.
Having done what society expected of me for 10 years and having had it not work out, I decided to reinvent my life the way I wanted it to be, instead of trying to recapture what it had been.
My book is the end result of it.
I found love again, as well as work that I’m so happy to say is my passion, in the most unlikely place – India!
I currently live in Mumbai, where I settled in 2008. Prior to that, I lived in Kolkata, Kerala, and Manali.
Personally, I’m a bit of a dreamer (if you believe in the zodiac, I’m a Pisces). I love reading, painting, travelling, spirituality, personal growth and development, aloo tikki and vada pav (Indian fried potato snacks), and good wine. I’m the most relaxed and contented when I’m among nature or at the beach.

I also sometimes write over on my personal website.
